Infarct burden following multivessel PCI vs. infarct-only PCI in patients with acute STEMI: the Glasgow PRAMI CMR sub-study
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background In the Preventive Angioplasty in Myocardial Infarction trial (PRAMI; ISRCTN73028481), immediate multivessel PCI (MV-PCI) of non-IRA (infarct related artery) lesions in patients with acute ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) and multivessel coronary disease (MVD) improved long term prognosis. We assessed infarct distribution and size in a pre-specified cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) sub-study.

Left ventricular outcomes following multivessel PCI vs. infarct artery-only PCI in patients with acute STEMI: the Glasgow PRAMI CMR sub-study
Background In the Randomized Trial of Preventive Angioplasty in Myocardial Infarction (PRAMI; ISRCTN73028481), compared with infarct-related artery (IRA)-only PCI, additional immediate multivessel PCI (MV-PCI) of nonIRA lesions in patients with acute ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) and multivessel coronary disease (MVD) improved long term prognosis. We studied left ventricular (LV) o...
متن کاملCulprit lesion-only versus complete revascularization in patients with STEMI: Lessons learned from PRAMI, CvLPRIT, and DANAMI-3 PRIMULTI
BACKGROUND Primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is the current standard of care for ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). About 40–50% of patients presenting with STEMI have multivessel disease (MVD). Compared to patients with single vessel disease, patients with STEMI and MVD have higher mortality rates and a greater incidence of non-fatal re-infarction. The underlying mechan...

Following the recent publication of the PRAMI trial, the appearance of the article entitled ‘‘Multivessel approach in ST-elevation myocardial infarction: Impact on in-hospital morbidity and mortality’’ by Santos et al. in this issue of the Journal could not be more timely. The study analyzed a population of patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) included in the Portuguese Regi...
متن کاملInfarct size and left ventricular remodelling after preventive percutaneous coronary intervention
OBJECTIVE We hypothesised that, compared with culprit-only primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), additional preventive PCI in selected patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction with multivessel disease would not be associated with iatrogenic myocardial infarction, and would be associated with reductions in left ventricular (LV) volumes in the longer term. METHODS In the pre...
متن کامل“Preventive” angioplasty in acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction: beyond the culprit artery. The PRAMI trial
Practice guidelines recommend that percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) as a reperfusion strategy in the context of acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) should be limited to the “culprit artery”. A PCI to the coronary arteries which are not responsible for the myocardial infarction has always been considered as a potential source of complications, with risks exceeding th...
